Today, Wednesday, October 9th, Weston Schools practiced a Fire Drill with evacuation. Once the drill was announced, students were instructed to evacuate the building in a slow & quiet manner. When all students were evacuated from the buildings, administrators conducted a walk through to ensure no students or staff were left behind. Once the building was proven to be empty, an all clear was announced. At this time the students and staff were allowed to re-enter the building. Weston School Districts conducts monthly practice drills to ensure that, in the event of a real situation, the students and staff know what to do.

Today, October 7th, 2024, Weston School District had a hold. A hold is when students are asked to stay in their classrooms to ensure that the hallways remain clear. This was an actual hold situation and not a practice drill. There was not a security issued and no students nor staff were in any danger with this hold. It was a situation in which we just needed the hallways to remain clear. Thank you. 🔔 Why Are They Important? 🔹𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: Just like fire drills, lockdown drills prepare us for emergencies. Knowing what to do can make a significant difference in stressful situations. 🔹𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞: Practicing these drills helps everyone respond quickly and efficiently, minimizing confusion and potential harm. 🔹𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝: Knowing that there is a plan in place can provide peace of mind for tober 7, 2024 we practiced a "Hold" asking students to stay within their classroom with the doors students, parents, and educators alike. 🔹𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬: Safety drills teach valuable life skills, fostering a sense of responsibility and awareness in students that they can carry into adulthood. It's a small investment of time that can make a huge impact on our safety. Stay safe and be prepared!
